With all the new members, who are exploring the forum for the first time, alot of old threads are being brought back up. Normally I do not have much of a problem with this, I do it myself occassionaly, but saying ':)' or 'Yes, I agree' or 'non-ladder jadada' on threads from 2003 is a bit over the top. I'm not pointing any fingers, but maybe someone can suggest a way the regular users of this forum can filter it without to much hassle, maybe by adding a little info button behing the posts (both on the 'recent topic' thingy and on aq2world.com itself., that can tell you stuff like the author or original date).
This post might belong in the suggestions and comments sections, but this is a suggestion more to the fellow users of than to team behind the forum.

Maybe a little confirmation button when reply to something which has been dead for set time, say three months. Since while I don't question your flaming-powers, sometimes alot of really recent topics get washed away so quick no one has a chance to read them. I thought they were going to implement something to help with this (earlier thread), but the sidebar on aq2world itself has only 10 if I'm not mistaken, and has no extra functionality beyond that. What I'm trying to say is, even if you flame them all very very rightiously, and the current 'diggers' stop, there will be new ones eventually. We need something to prevent this without locking all the old threads, because the thing is, sometimes old threads can suddenly become relevent again.
