There are so many old kickass single player games, but the only netgame i know that is still so fecking good and being played is: Subspace AKA Continuum!

If you want to try this game out its under 10megs big and its pretty old.. im not sure but i think it was released somewhere in the year 1996..

You can get it from: www.subspacedownloads.com -> then file archive -> clients -> continuum 0.38setup.exe -> continuum 0.39 prelease -> install 0.38 -> install 0.39 to the same directory and use 0.39prelease.exe.

If you need more help or want some help just contact me in irc!

Liero, a excellent 1vsAI or 1vs1 (in one PC, no multiplayer) game. Something like worms, but in real time, bloodier and funnier. I think it's finnish, so maybe somebody know it. Here it is:
http://www.freewaregaming.com/aa/liero.html

Well, looking for a link I get to "Liero Xtreme", with multiplayer on internet support and better resolution, etc. Here's the link:

Looks nice...

There's a Linux version (well, it's another game but in the same style) called "Nil isn't Liero" here it is: http://nil.sourceforge.net/

Then, there is ToME (a variant to PernAngband and this, a variant of Angband, and this a rogue like game based on Rogue). There's the ToME wiki where are good guides for newbies and the game itself has a lot of help.

And my personal favorite "best old game" it was a Atari game called "Twilight World".

Bubble Bobble and other good games I used to play with my C64 <3
And with my 386 I played Commander Keens (I think I have 'em all on my old floppydiscs, but the 7th is only shareware :(), Scorched Earth, Lemmings, Duke Nukem 1&2 and all the funny little games (well not little back then) :)

Searching it, I get to PuckFun, a recopilation of 3 air hockey games. Here (I'm downloading it):
