Ola! Uno problemo, Senor!

Post by grover »

Okay, I have a weird problem with NoCheat quake2.
When I start a server of my own (game action; map urban) everything works fine. But when I try to enter a server, this error pops up:

I did nothing to my aq2 and I have no idea what this means. Can someone help me out?

hi,

FS_read 0 bytes read seems to me like an error caused by a wrong or corrupt file.
You tried starting aq with quake2.exe or apr ?

If it doesn't start with other clients.
Then i must say this: re-install.
It's like deja vu all over again...

I've tried Apr, R1Q2, NoCheat AND q2ace (!!). It's all the same..
Some websites showed it had something to do with crashing the server with incorrect skintypes or something. Maybe you guys know a bit more about this?

Edit: Ok, I've tried to change my skin in my autoexec.cfg from sas-urban (Which is an incorrect filetype, it's sas/urban) to male/resdog, but when I go in to quake, exec autoexec.cfg, it's male/klauz. How the hell is this possible?

You are mistaken.
It's sas-urban, why the hell do u think u get the sas-urban skin when u play deathmatch. It's in the folder players\sas, yes, but the name of the skin is sas-urban.

There's still all the different config.cfg in

baseq2/
action/
wherever/

...check for it.

Still, I don't think that it is because of your skin-setting. Something else... hmm :/

No idea. But the skin is sas/sas-urban. Maybe if you erase all the configs. Or get a new dll. Weird...

he is talking about the skin changes cuz of me..

he found something about skin problems and that the server might crash by it.

yesterday when we played a 2on2, he was on the server already when i connected. my console said something like this: couldn't download bla bla grover skin: sas/sas-(or_)urban

Contains an illegal character '-'. Also if you have a space in it. It's r1q2 in this case ganja, and isn't client-to-client downloading disabled, I mean, it would have to go through the server and if the server has downloading disabled, of course your client will say something about it.
