Connecting problems

Post by Akor »

Its a stupid problem with my client. It goes like this. I wanted to play aq2 today so i did the usual stuff and tryed to connect to one server. But then the problems came. It just said

connecting to 127.0.0.1
connecting to 127.0.0.1

And so on.
My internet works fine and i disabeled my firewall. Plus i did /ping dacentral.de for death angels server and it didnt showed any problems so it must be something wrong with my client

127.0.0.1 is a loopback IP adress, which means that it is "This computer". i.e. if you connect to 127.0.0.1 the signals never leave your network card, but is looped back to the computer you're using. This is usually used for debugging, and network interface testing and so on. I also think that Q2 uses this adress to connect to itself when you start a server (by for example typing "map urban" in the console.)

I don't know why your trying to connect to 127.0.0.1 (or localhost) but you won't get anywhere on that IP, if you're not running a q2 server on your computer as well that is :)

try connecting directly to the DA server by typing "connect ip" in the console, where "ip" would be the correct IP adress of the DA server. That should get you to the right place :)

I just put this 127.0.0.1 ip here and not in the game sorry :)

If you want it shows like that
Connecting to 217.160.108.163:27910
connecting to 217.160.108.163:27910
connecting to 217.160.108.163:27910
and so on, so its not the problem with 127.0.0.1

Again this ip has nothing with client :)
