Dirty Quake source code

Post by sui »

I´ve just discovered that Grim has finally released the source code for Dirty Quake 2. Dirty Quake 2 was a nice mod for AQ2 with great new ideas (ok, some of them were great). Since there are still modification-projects out there (AQ2 New Generation, Axionquake), some coders may find interesting stuff in it.

I dont think any of Dirty's features would fit into TNG.
There's a chopper coming in 3 days and there's a katana on top of the cafe and that's all you need to know

I tried to download it, but it wants me to pay $5 in order to download it... And I don't think much people will pay that much for the src...

I agree with you that most DQ2 features wouldn´t fit into TNG, because some of them like climbing up walls or akimbo M4 (!) would dramatically unbalance the gameplay of AQ2.

But what about some "eye candy"-features, e.g. the more "realistic" akimbo-firing or the "Gangsta MK23"?

that shield was the only fun thing ever in cs. 4 guys sitting (2 buttom, 2 top) and blocking an entrance. awesome. if your 8 its even more fun. castle-strike.

It's my understanding that the only thing Dirty Q2 has similar to AQ2 is the use of the models and maps. DQ2 is based on Brazen and I believe the code is very dissimilar. It may help to see the code and how he implements this stuff, but might not do any good to anyone who is hoping to just shoehorn the code into TNG or whatever.
