AQ2 Standalone

Post by Toad »

I modernized Bongwater's Axion standalone with a newer client and some additional textures/skins/sounds. It has anticheat properly configured and has no problem joining anticheat-restricted servers. It has an updated set of maps and will work on any server in its "join network server" list, so a 3rd party server browser is not needed. Let me know what you think.

Nice, good that you updated it and put ac in as well. Hopefully Poro will do the same with kweik.com package, at least he should! But since jumbo compiled installers something tells me it's quite unlikely AC will find its way in there.

And hopefully, in the next couple of years, someone will put a nice big
DOWNLOAD STANDALONE ACTION QUAKE 2 CLIENT HERE
button onto the main page.

This is the truth. There really should be something that says what aq2 is and where to get it on the front page.

That installer includes AC and that official AC pak. In fact he just updated that installer. Poro is just inactive and hasn't yet put the newst installer to kweik.com.

- juM8o's kevlarvest icon (changed because old one was too small resolution)
- AprQ2 1.211
- Latest anticheat
- Removed atiglxxx.dll from installer (inflicted more harm than benefit)
- Updated serverlist, now with ~20 servers
- juM8o's 32bit lasersight
- Added juM8o's 32bit textures to 32bit texturepak (of course only the best ones)
- Added all maps which are currenty in publics' rotations
- Added action.ini (now you can make own aq2 server)
- Little changes in configs etc..

yes, it can be downloaded temporaly from my webspace http://jum8o.wippiespace.com/aq2tuned.exe and even the first versions included anticheat, but the thing is that later developers disabled ac support from AprQ2 1.19

Nice standalone JuM8o. It had a few nice textures that I had not seen before. Feel free to take any textures you need from my standalone, it looks like I have some that you did not have in there as well (like urban2, tequila, etc...). Also you might consider leaving in the .wal files that have 32-bit texture replacements, since the user gets spammed with wal files they don't have even if they have a 32-bit texture (or else disable this checking with a cvar).

For anyone looking for some nice textures for a retexture project, I got the textures that I used for tequila at http://orbitalarm.bungie.org/downloads/textures.html which is a site for the retexturing of Marathon.
