Ever used a 500hz USB mouse? No?
It works like a charm on my over three year old PC (Athlon Thunderbird 1200mhz and has Linux though).
CPU isn't much in question here. If you think, it may be a problem, just try it. Nowadays people having Windows XP SP2 should have at least 900mhz...
Oh, 125hz for devices is a standard that is like "640kb should be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates.
For a simple mice, even 1000hz can be reached - but I would never tell you to use other devices on the same USB port in a line as well. Don't think they would function correctly anymore.
