Paint some nice landscape or graffits. Perhaps too hard to do and expensive but i have seen those nice works. Awesome!

I think without skills the result can be like kidsroom.

My own room is light green and i like it.

My (personal) room is painted in 1/3 of matt blue and 2/3 of a warm yellow-beige. Where the two colors meet each other I made a changeover using a sponge. Some call it tentacles, some call it a weirdo-design, but I love waking up and watching those patterns.

My bed is in the blue part while my working space is in the yellow-beige one.
