obviously vista is a great os, like windows xp were when was released times ago... BUT:
software limitations. MASSIVE harware needed (not everybody has andrew's computer AT THE MOMENT)(and changeing computer only to make possible to run an os is... well.... HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHcunts).
thats enough for me.
i'll change my computer when 3d hologram-based interactive porns will be released.

You must be joking. Have you even tried vista?
Mac is only good when you want to do some serious image editing / printing. I see no other reason why you want to change to mac.
Lets not even start talking about game support.

den :-), since macs have an intel processor i can even install windows xp and windows vista beside Max os X. But i dont want to because since i use mac os i get all features which i really missed in microsoft products. Just take one hour and go to an apple shop, play with these things and maybe u will start to love it like me :>.
PS: after two months my mac still boots within 10 seconds (no joke) to the desktop. On my pc after applyin the antivurs software, firewall and other stuff i lost like 20 percent of the overall performance. The problem on windows is the registry which just gets crowded and messed up after months. Plus show me a pc who can survive in standby mode for 1 month
.
Ow yes i forgot:

Why would you want to install windows on a mac.. seriously... if you bought it for just the design ..
The problem on windows is the registry which just gets crowded and messed up after months
In my oppinion, its all about what kind of user you are. if you install shit and visit weird website then yeh ofcource your pc will get fucked. I havent reinstalled my pc for about 1,5 years i guess and it still runs like milka butter.
Dont get me wrong.. i like mac but wait untill mac is mainstream like windows
more exploits, more virus, more spyware etc

Hmm... unfortunately I must say vista sucks, like u said before vista needs very powerful computer to run like xp, vista is hungry seriously! Visually it looks very nice and but when it comes to use it's pretty annoying, some settings is hiding somewhere and it ain't funny use, atleast first time.
What comes to mac os x, it's great, stable! Games? No chances. But I luv mac more than windows anyways.
Btw, AV progs etc, is pretty useless if u are running xp with sp2 and u know how to use computer (dont open every link!
), ofc firewall wud be great.

Vista dropped sound hardware support in their driver model.
Actually, DirectSound on Vista is worth less than DirectSound was on Windows XP. They stripped it down, leaving people alone with software sound mixing.
So: No games with EAX (creative's spatialized sound-stuff) anymore - except you use OpenAL in your games.
Read on:
http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs ... ge.id=1694
http://www.openal.org/openal_vista.html
And then just screw it all and give Linux as a Operating Sytem or Apple (as a new computer-vendor) with MAC OS X as Operating System a shot.
Concerning games... tell game developers to use OpenAL which works on Mac, Windows, Linux .. and more platforms.

CATALYST® for Windows Vista Release Note
Note: The following ATI features are not supported in the Catalyst® Vista RTM driver for the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system:
· CrossFire™
· Catalyst® Control Center Video aspect page
· OpenGL
· VIVO support
· The capture driver for these products is not being updated at this time
So you're not yet able to use OpenGL when running AQ2 in Windows Vista if you own Radeon graphics gard. Current driver is still in beta-stage. Waiting for better drivers with OpenGL-support....
Yesterday (29.01.07) Windows Vista was released for home users, and ATI also released their first NOT beta drivers.
ATI now got Opengl support in Vista, but they are writing:
"Future Catalyst™ releases will include further OpenGL optimizations to further enhance performance of Vista OpenGL applications."
Anyway, Now the Opengl support is a reality, and it should be possible to play Quake2 and AQ2.

Perfect
Since most new laptops will get MS Vista now instead of MCE or XP, so i can stick to Vista and keep playing aq2, its only waiting till the laptop i want is available again, good news

Anyone had any problems running aq2 with Vista? I've got NVidia GF 7600GT and I get these weird slowdowns every now and then. Mostly it happens when I start to shoot enemys but it occurs other times as well.
Yeah I know it probably is because of crappy GPU drivers but I'm just curious to see if it's only me with these problems.
I have Vista Home Premium with AMD 64 3000+ and 1GB

There is the reason, and forsure vista is a crapy OS, until bugfixes and sp1 are arriving (Sp1 is coming in Desember).
