I just had to bring this thread up again, since the
SajhCo Cup is almost (?) over and the quite long league stage gave us some more insight on the issue "reliable teams".
Please consider this not as late moaning but as a reminder for future decisions of future tournaments/cups.
I am not naming certain teams here because everyone (especially the administration of events to come) shall make up her own mind which teams are to be called "reliable", "not reliable" or "re-evaluated to be reliable again".
Furthermore, treat the results on the two pages as
facts. No "ifs" and "elses" needed here.

Judging every important clan out there isn't the solution.
If they don't play their games it's because they aren't interested, winning a "private" league is "ok" and since it takes ages till the finals are played, the disqualified clans lose interest in the results after their loss and the whole leagues goes down.
Personally I dislike this, me and my clan (NARF) are always waiting eagerly to play our matches and see how it goes, but since we aren't as good as the above mentioned clans, we get disqualified and the competition ends for us, but then to see how the clans that disqualified us don't play their matches and coming to the end we all know.
I don't know if the format is the issue or the administration or it's the lack of a prize. But considering what we are the latest shouldn't be considered at all (although, does anyone remember the excitement around the n99's map making competition?).
I have the feeling though, that clans just sign up to any league without even knowing what's the league about, if it has a suiting server for them or if they really want to play the kind of league (map-wise or whatever config the cup has). They "just want to play" and if it isn't "what they were expecting", they just quit.
I would like to know how the finnish leagues work, if it's different or not.

That's why a ladder is the way to go... People will play when they want the bragging rights.
