Hm, but I mean that the game goes unplayable, I get 2-3 FPS so the screen freezes, maybe that is not what other people have mentioned, but this is what happens for me.. sadly.. Why dont you use performance under administration tools and you might find exactly what causes fps drops.
Once mirc.exe caused fps drops on my side and i was like wtf, mirc?
