We (admins of the Boomtown servers) have found another, foolproof, way to detect if someone is using the hack (all credit goes out to Mysteryman:)). It is a simple check, done by rcon, which I won't make public.

It's true that we have found a way to detect the latest version of the cheat. These are two simple tests which will reveal the cheater in a matter of seconds. So far we already caught 5 people on the BoomTown servers using it, which were instantly banned ofcourse.

I think it speaks for itsself that those banned players are not allowed to play in the league(s). If you would like these cheaters to be banned on your server too, head on to our homepage http://mysteryman.z0r.nl/aq2/ and look under the banned players section.

We will continue these tests on a randomly basis and no doubt that we will catch many more.

In case you should run in on a possible cheater on the BoomTown aq2 servers, don't hesitate to drop by in admin.dk and ask an admin to come to the server.

Admins from over whole the world have contacted me since i posted the newsmessage on the nocheat forum. North-America, Chilli etc.

Nocheat is far out the best anti-cheat clients side program around nowadays.

It is hacked yes. Though it is only by one person, who will help it making more secure and hoping not make another cheat version. And most important, his cheats are detectably, from the old version up to the newest version he released 3 weeks ago. Though the detection methods are not similar with the newest and the older version, they are still easy to be detected.

Damn... i didn't want this to be such a long story full with crap

I think its gr8 that the new version will be made possible by the hacker, and like most peeps i hope he fucks off after that

The things is, that going from q2ace -> NoCheat results in another sensitivity.. so you'll have to adjust your sens.. but that's all..

also, sniper btw, is lynden and he was banned from most servers before they were updated. also, whoever said that they dont wanna name the person whos making the nocheat hacks (i cant be bothered to scroll up) err, hes been metioned a few times here i think and hes on the the aq2dk bans list... way to keep it anonymous guys!

So the hacker is gonna help him making the new version of NoCheat. Am I the only one who thinks this is kinda odd? It's like letting a thief helping you protecting your house. Isn't it just a way for the hacker/thief to make it easier for him to hack/steal? Especially if he already said he won't promise not to hack it again. And besides. Aren't we getting in the same circle again and again. A new NoCheat gets released -> We have to install it (some will, some won't) -> It gets hacked -> A new NoCheat gets released -> We have to install it (some will, some won't) -> ...

I mean, there are still people playing with Q2Ace, without the intention to cheat, just because they are too lazy to install NoCheat. Same for people witn an old version of NoCheat. Isn't this client side anti-cheat software getting something like a Mission Impossible... Ofcourse it is important to make it as hard as possible for players to use cheats, but introducing anti-cheat software seems to be making it easier for them.

Luckily the admins got this little trick to find out someone is using that frkq2 cheat, which is a good thing, public servers are getting emptier anyway and because of the cheats it will go even faster. In league matches there's always an admin present and I hardly see anyone cheating in clan matches anymore.

The only thing we can do is hoping this new version of NoCheat really is good and that the hacker won't hack it again...
