Good thread, and important too. I too agree that biggest thing for newbies is to learn how to move. If they have ever played some other fps they propably know how to aim with MP5 and SSG atleast.

But moving. That's more difficult. It's kinda hard to teach someone how to do good strafejumps, especially if not in the same room.

And that "kinda-steam" is also a good idea, it would help newbies alot. Then you could slowly learn more and more make yourself and tweak and stuff. When I started it took more time to learn how to do a good config than learn how to move ;) (back in the days when jump to urban's middle roof was a miracle:P )

Everyone seems to like that we'll get tons of newbies in this scene.

Maybe the aq2 would live longer with the new players, but i really don't think ppl wants that servers will be full of aq2-cs-players flaming and camping, and that it will sure be if there will be tons of new players :)

Aq2 school (what a name :D) could prevent this maybe. Let's hope so if we're going to get bunch of new players here in our mighty scene :)

Another thing I just thought of is, that in atleast sweden there are tons of cs servers, if we were to be lucky to get people interested, the amount of servers might increase too :)

so accualy it might be a good idea, if we would found a SoA(School of Action), have some pro-coder make a Steam-alike program, and go with Rallu's suggestions about the installer itself :)

Are there any coders out there that could see the Steam-wannabe as something worth making(for free), and that has some time to spare to accualy make it, and update it?

If we accualy try this might work, or maybe I'm just becoming too ambitious? :)

If we would accualy do it, just posting the full install on gaming news-sites would most likely get people to open up their eyes, like I bet alot of people did when GTA came out for free :)

humm...maps isnt the right thing to begin i think...

i think there must be more advertisement for the AQ2 scene...

if i look @ google 2 CS there is much more when i just search on AQ2..

als therem ust be something for the n00bs....i was going 2 play this game cuz i was very boring and dont like CS...i got addicted...but i dindt like 2 play on the server cuz of the guys in there where too good....

also people doenst like the speed...its too fast they say....but there must be an idea for getting people used to this...

also the AQ2 install must be some complete what rallu already said cuz its missing lots of textures...(not a big point but the gfx of the game )

people say too that the GFX sux...but i people who iam introducing the game thinking much more else when i start my 32 bit-textures...

but it stays still AQ2...its about the fun...and what is already said : people must stop whining... like :

SWE sux...

FIN sux...

just accept eachothers and play the AQ2 game...people are interested of a najs game wich is played by much najs people...and not people who are laughing about n00bs and think they are the best of AQ2

i think the clans are some of this 2... there are many good clans..and if a clan lose 5 times they put the clan down (i did a few times till i realised it sux to start a 3 day clan)

i think there are much post in this topic where we can build a kinda new AQ2 generation. so AQ2 will lives on!... :hop:

Interesting thread.

I believe NEW people in general prefers to try RQ3 instead of aq2. Mainly due to the graphics(And they know the game exists due to the news post on top gaming sites before each release).

What we need is a new fresh start. When aq2world.net is done we do as the rq3 team does when they are releasing a new version. They mail about 100-150 top gaming sites. I believe that will affect this scene a little bit.

Anyways, thats the best suggestion i got. However, aq2world must be perfect with documentarys and information before this 'release'. Because if the site is more or less empty people will leave asap :)

Maybe Rallu can get his own section concerning his aq2 client etc etc etc.

Everything needs to be on the same site and not 10 different ones.

funny how you two manage to completly go of topic on a serious subject, it's loosing it's power now, so I have to write something to keep interest :P

Right now the community is small and nice, but it feels like it's cooling down like a forgotten dinner, compared to a year ago it's way harder, I'm not saying impossible, but way harder to get a clanwar. Some public servers are always empty while some are always full (I don't see why no one every plays on tyldis servers).

Getting more people into the scene isn't going to make any drastic changes, also remember the "new clan syndrome", if a bunch of newcomers decide to start a clan, it'd be better if they played other newcomer clans, seeing how most new clans die fairly fast after loosing to clans that are beyond their level a few times. This also means that we, the already established clans with tons of experience and teamplay shouldn't look to much into challening these newcomer clans just to have some high-low results on their homepage.

From what I've seen starting a new clan is always hard, and you need a steady base, like a bunch you know and like, but new clans most likely consist of a bunch of mixed people gathered from public servers, and therefor they might get into internal fights easier, over just small things like a lost clanwar.

So if this were to happen, a bunch of people would get interest in the aq2 game and scene we have to remember that this isn't counter-strike, there aren't 200 new clans formed daily..

Anyways, for any of this to happen we need to see if there is any interest in doing this. Someone to put the install togethere? Rallu? :) Any programmers for the Steam-wannabe?

uh I got carried away again, but I think we should accualy try this, wouldn't it be great to come back to aq2world.net in our fourties and see that the community is still alive thanks to our effort? :bday:

ps: I'm a geek, i know :( :P
