nocheat, shmocheat. Half of these new anti-cheat clients have been hacked within a week of them being released - a lot have been hacked the same day. Take q2ace for example... I was reading about some guy hacking it 'during his lunch break' when it was released.
I dont know much about anti-cheat clients so correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt there some sort of CRC check (or something else) that could be done so that the pak files and files used wherever else in q2 _have_ to be the same as the install files of aq/q2?
I realise that this would throw people's "mods" out of the window (such as custom weapons, crosshairs etc.) but surely wouldnt this stop anyone modifying any files?
Personally I feel that the bright skins used on most euro servers are pretty lame.. and I dont see how lowering the gl_mod limit gets rid of it. Let's face it, if you're going to lower the gl_mod limit so that you have difficulty seeing somebody in the dark (which quite rightly, you should) then why put bring orange and white skins on the models? Surely this defies the idea?
Also, I've heard about a lot of players using 'sound' as an advantage.. dont get me wrong, any player can hear the direction from which a player comes, but to pinpoint it to such a degree of accuracy amazes me - are there special sound settings/software that I could set up to help me do this? Seriously, I thought my sound system was good enough, but I cant pinpoint exactly where they're going to jump/come over a hill. Is there any type of software I can use? currently I'm on a 5.1 card, with some 5.1 speakers. I dont really agree with modifying the footstep files, that's pretty lame..

I'll leave that to the haters
Best way is to let other people judge your skill - that way you dont have to prove anything by being big headed. If they hate you that's usually a good sign :p

Sound Blaster Live! Platinum + Ministry of sound headphones does the sound thing for me.
A while ago i must of messed up the settings cos i wasn't very accurate in knowing where people were just on sound, however it seems to have sorted itself now and I am back to my old sound hacking self
I'd say it's mainly to do with headphones though, some aren't made for 3D sound (dont think mine are actually) but if you get a quality pair (sennheiser or something...pricey) you can always make life easier for yourself in game. Pro gamers use Sennheisers, surely they're not all wrong
