coolbox is surrealism. i like surrealism.

still i think simplicity/change is the better action quake2-maps, while dose is the best quake2 map.

Ok, sorry alekchi if you were serious with that map.

It might be art for someone, but the art of fragging is more important, and it can't be represented in Coolbox imo. That's my point.

Anyways, thanks for the maps.

Vermin wrote:I wouldn't place change in the top3 simply because it has way too high r_speeds (+2k). But maybe I just have way too old pc... and at least linux ppl might have some problems after installing dose since all of its textures are written in uppercase (All maps should have everything in lowercase except the welcome message when you load the map). All aq2 mappers who are still around should read at least these if they already haven't:
http://aqmd.telefragged.com/mmaps.shtml
http://aqmd.telefragged.com/res/mextut.shtml
I mean, if you are going to make a map then go all they way through. And I also recommend that you find one or two hint brush tutorials to read.
I'm not whiny, just informative :)

oh yeah.. not only change .. it's on dose.zip too:

Code: Select all

 inflating: textures/CARNAGE/4_B_PANEL01.wal
  inflating: textures/CARNAGE/4_B_PANEL01.jpg
  inflating: textures/CARNAGE/4_BANNER01.wal
  inflating: textures/CARNAGE/4_BANNER01.jpg
and later the .bsp refers to lowercase textures.. all red.

if you didn't already rename the textures, then here's for you and the other linuxusers :) http://www.ee.oulu.fi/~ringu/dose/dose.zip

Did I misunderstand something about how linux checks for textures? Does linux ALWAYS check for lowercase texture names? No matter what the bsp refers to? Dose.bsp contains all uppercase texture names (just checked), that's why BSPPack kept them as uppercase in the .zip file. Obviously if Linux q2 automatically refers to lowercase textures, this would cause problems... does anyone know for sure how it works? Maniac, R1CH? it would be a quick fix to BSPPack to store the textures in all lowercase...
