Anyone solved the SP2 - Wirless - No Internet bug?

I spent last night building my brothers PC, installed XP & SP2, setup the Netgear WG121 USB wireless adaptor like I did before.

Nothing but problems! My ASDL internet connection randomly drops on both PC's (through a DG834G Wireless Router & ASDL Modem). My brother's PC's wireless just randomly stops as well.

Anyone come across a solution to this problem?
All I can find is people telling me to stop the 'wireless zero configuration' service?

My initial views are: don't unless you feel you absolutely have to!
Some things seems to work so much better, but other's (like wireless networking) have just screwed up something rotten!

Can't you 'roll-back' service packs?

No need, I never thought it would be that simple, but I disabled the WZC service and everything seems fine now.

Go figure. Guess I'm just used to Microsoft making every problem super-difficult to solve.

I really wanted the additional security of SP2 as after getting broadband my PC had become a collection tank for every adware/spyware/malware/trojan/dialer app out there on the internet. I spent a whole weekend getting the PC clean and then left it on and connected for one night only to find 33 new detected programs the next day :x

maybe you just should get yourself a decent firewall in a router or switch... its the best thing...

The DG834G is supposed to have a true SPI (?) firewall built in. I only know how to open and close ports on it, and I think all incoming ports are closed by default.

I really should read the manual I suppose, but there are certain ports that definately need to be open for me that I've set up.
