Ok. I have Logitech MX300. But I've not installed the drivers from the cd wich came with the mouse when I bought it. I've always had Windows XP to search the drive, without any problems. But some days ago. The mouse started to lagg. Now it laggs, but sometimes it can be perfectly normal.

Hehe. As you all know I tought it was XP's faulth. So I reinstalled the os. But still the same problem. I've tried to use 2 other mices. But they lagg too. :x

I'm using the USB. not ps2. Could it be a good Idea to try(?). However when I'm using the ps2. The mouse laggs all the time. I don't know what to do! O_o

Could it be the motherboard or something with the hardware? :/

Do your other USB devices have problems?
Is there a clean connection between the socket and plug, is there anything inside the socket?
Have you made any changes or did it suddenly change?
Does new drivers have any effect on the performance of the mouse?

By devices I'm talking about things plugged into them like a printer, webcam, keyboard - you understood me right?

If you did, you mean they are all acting 'slow'?

Had a similar/same problem. No solution though :(

Had my own mouse plugged into a USB extra cable since I don't like laser shit. At first it worked as it should but after some time it started freezing when you didn't use it constantly...

Dunno... unplug everything else?

Heh. I've founded a really mytic problem. My Mouse work perfectly when someting big is working. Like when I'm scanning for virus the mouse is perfect.

And when I'm playing aq2, the mouse is perfect =)

Really Really Weird... B>

I have a friend that's having this same problem with a MX500 and winxp. I haven't seen it first hand, but he said that the problem was only present in q2 (and no other games or apps). He got it fixed by changing q2 renderer and client back and forth a couple of times (we think it's because of the use of directinput) I can't remember the client name that we think fixed it. It was something on 'c' like cabbage quake (don't know if that exists :)) After using this a while he changed back to nocheat and then the mouse magically worked.. Since it now works in nocheat as well, it almost has to be some kind of cfg string that "cabbage quake" (or whatever it was called) put in the config and is now active in nocheat as well to fix the problem.

Wohaaw... hope that made any sense at all 8)

btw: a quick google search turned up this page, the link to the homepage doesn't work, but the download should in case anyone would like to test this. http://clans.frag.cl/quake2/lt/q2cabb.htm

For a second there I thought this may be an issue with Windows Power saving settings, if you go to the control panel and choose "power options", have a look and see what scheme your computer is running.

My XP machine here at work has options for monitor, hard disks & system stand-by. Although I'm sure my home machine (with SP2) has more.

Then I realised I'm probably going down the wrong route entirely.
You say the problem relates to both USB and PS2 ports, I find it unlikely that it'd be a motherboard problem in hrardware. What motherboard do you have? I think some motherboards with the VIA chipset are prone to this. You could try flashing it to the latest version.

Yes. My irl friend gave a tip 2 me to use the PS2 and draw the mouse hertz up. Have to find the adapter first.
But the strange thing is when a program which draws more of the computer are in use -> the mouse is perfectly clear.

Hew. good idea to put virusscan on 24/7 =)

My motherboard
-Epox EP-8RDA3+, nVidia nForce2, D/TB/xp ATX

I'll try to download the last updates to it. :hop:
