Is the timerefresh giving you values around 90 or exactly the same value every time?
If you get the exact same value very time something with vsync should be wack.

Just to let you guys know, I've already offered my advice on IRC and shown him the other thread. I'll put it here so there isn't any confusion.

Install latest chipset drivers.
Uninstall the current ATI Catalysts, and reinstall Cats 4.7.
Make sure the card is getting the right power. Try another molex cable from your PSU.
Make sure the card is seated properly.
Make sure the card isn't overheating, is the fan working?
Make sure you're using AGP 8x.
Make sure V-sync is off.

I'm pretty sure it's another strange driver problem, as his games are fine when they aren't OpenGL. Are you CERTAIN you're using 4.7, Chris? Right click desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced > Options > It tells you Catalyst version there. It might be worth a try of uninstalling them from the control panel (All ATI Software) and installing the ones that I can send you.

I have problem that even though I have turned v_sync off, it turns it on all the time. This means everytime I start q2, I have alt-tab to video options and turn it on, and then back to off and vid_restart in q2 and I have it off.

Hm, i'm also having trouble with my other machine.. P
P4 2 GHz
ATI radeon 8500

I know it's abit older than the 9800, but the problem that occurs is the same, low fps. and huge fps drops randomly... making gameplay a pain..

Tried this gl_ext_pointparameters and it helps.. A LOT :)
What does this cmd do more exact..?

hello...
i finally fixed my probs :P

well.. im just writing it down.. maybe other peeps will find some answers :P

I mad format C:
then I installed everything correctly again..

Sulfate that "gl_ext_pointparameters 0" didn't helped at all
but I found out theres a similarly command ^^
here it goes
set gl_ext_pointparameters 0
yeah right without the _ mark.
now I got around 800 frames per second via timerefresh :)
thanks for the help!
