I found z0r.nl to have a server monitoring frag counter. Can skill quality be judged by public servers?

Nope, it sucks. This bot is ruining the game. More and more players care for nothing else but these stats. They want to get as many frags as possible so they pick m4 cause it's 'easy to frag'. This leads in playing small and sucky maps and game becomes quite boring.
People really fake cause of these stats, geez...

You can see how many frags per minute a player can get, and thats all you can see. You wont see how good the player is handling the situations, his priorities, his reaction, crow control, etc. Whenever I look at stats pages, I see the people I assume to see leading the fpm ladder. So most of the time the best players will actually get the best fpm.

Like AssKick3r says, people vote for small maps and may use M4 all the time. I have noticed how a few people wants cloud badly. I don't think its because they love it so much. :)
However, even though people vote for small maps like cloud, I don't see the map in play that much. I only see people voting for it.
I played some AQ2 for about a week a month ago when I received my adsl connection. After that week, alot of people started pm'ing me, asking me if I had started playing again. And most of them also gave me this URL along with their question: http://www.stats-it.net/top.php?sessid= ... id=7&rid=6
Seems like I won that weeks stat competition, and I didnt even know about it. This was done by using MP5 and M3. Some M4, and some Sniper. This proves that you can win the stats competition without going M4 all the time, and even without trying to win it. On that URL you can see how everyone's FPM is a bit below average, and that's because the servers' map rotation was followed most of the time. Didn't I just say people vote for cloud all the time? In fact they do. I saw alot of people constantly voting for cloud, but there were never enough votes to get it through.

Skill can without doubt be judged on public servers (and now I'm thinking of seeing people play, not their stats). Tbh, I can judge people better in public than in CW's.

I dont care a bit of stats, and I cant see why anyone is or should...its pointless...aq2 is not about fragging the most in the shortest time, its about having fun...everything isnt about winning

Sorry to say, but this is stupid. Stats are nice so you can see how good you were doing, it is not for others to derive any conclusions from. Still, clone-killing aside, fpm are usually at least an indication of skill - I don't the the worst player can get spot numero uno. Stop looking at the stats as some kind of promotional gadget, so stop voting maps 'just' to boost your stats, I very much doubt there is even one clan-leader crazy enough to recruit someone on the basis of some stupid stats page alone.

Therefore, I voted yes, because in my opinion, it does what it is supposed to do - log how well I'm approximately doing, and I'm not voting cloud all the time I can give you that. Also, I must add I haven't looked at said page with said stats more than twice. I mean, I already know how good I'm doing, no need to see it in numbers, most of the time.[/b]

i sometimes see my public minutes from aq2.stats.net. z0r seems to include cw's too in those stats, so fuck it. i can tell if i'm doing good in a match without those fpm's. and you can "boost" your stats if you wish, ending up like Dreamer here :P

[16:31] <z0rbot07> [STATS] [2004/45] {Tm}Dreamer => Mins : 50 , Frags: 199 , FPM: 4.80 (3.93) , Weighted Rank: 1.98

and if someone isn't taken in a clan based on his stats, then i say fuck it. stats only tell the frags and minutes, not that you could've fragged everyone stealing with mp5 or camping or so on. judging by fpm is bs.

and i don't even need to see the stats of mine, i can tell that it's 0.4-0.6, every week, discluding matchservers aka in stats.aq2.net

what they said

no really, these stats pages shouldn't be for anyone but yourself, i check my stats a few times a week just to see how much i've played (time wasted :P), and if someone has 900 kills in 700 minutes and is leading the stats list, good for him, but i couldn't care less.. what i find interesting is my stats, although i didn't know z0rbot gathered stats from the cw servers, maybe they should be divided so you could search for both, cw only or public only or something? :)

I just check my stats a few times a week. And to be honest I don't really give anything about them.
I think the stats in a CW matter more then all the overall stats. :)

eh...I dont play very often so when Icheck the stats which I do just to show everyone how much I own:

14:42] <-z0rbot01> [STATS] [2004/45] ? snt => Mins : 123 , Frags: 64 , FPM: 0.57 (0.52) , Weighted Rank: 0.56
heh
