Hi everyone,
Today the BoomTown servers got updated. R1Q2 is running and the newest AQ2 TNG version 2.81 is running aswell. Also there are a lot of new maps on it, which can be voted upon. I fixed the votelist. llsounds is changed to 0 since some people whined about it making them lagg
We also have a new maprotation on the servers with many new maps in it.
Also new skins have been placed on the servers for this xmas. They can be downloaded here and here.
Code: Select all
sv_calcpings_method [0/1/2]
Change how pings are calculated:
0: Disable reporting of pings completely.
1: Standard Q2 method (averaging).
2: New R1Q2 method, best case minimum. Results in pings much closer to what external programs such as server browsers report and is influenced much less by the client's packet rate.
afaik the server just calculates the ping differently, still the same delay though. You might have noticed the difference between pinging a server with ASE, or similar game scanner, and acctually playing on the server.Jazzie wrote:Whoa? My ping went from 50-65 to 30-40 with just r1q2. Impressive. Let's just hope that rooftops is on the server now aswell and it might be semi-good.
Code: Select all
set sv_calcpings_method 2
Notice my other comment:P perhaps its only my connection, but the ping shifts +-20 on an almost daily basis... i assume bonet is to blame for that thoughJazzie wrote:sajh but my ping is changed in the server-browser aswell, so they must've done something.
Ow please, first i liked that setting too.. but later on i noticed that quake2 will report ping 30 for.ex. while you are uploading with 120kb/s (1mbit) and your actual ping is going from 80 to 250 (method 1) and with method 2 it says you have a stabile ping from 28-32.Morpher wrote:And yesterday I was playing around with the following command;
At the moment it's set to 1 in the config files, but we've requested a change, to run with the new method for good. Should be on soon.. until then, I'll change 'em whenever I remember to :-)Code: Select all
