New Monitor and FPS

Today I got my brother's monitor. A Samtron 98PDF.
I setted it to 140Hz at 800x600 and ran AQ2, it works fine. But -the first time- the fps (cl_maxfps 120) were stuck at 70 and when looking at a wall I got ~124. And the second time were just stuck at 70.
Of course it work at 140 with gl_swapinterval 0, but I want it on to avoid the freaking vertical disynchronization sometimes.
I tried setting the Hz up to 120 on 800x600, but worked the same. Any idea?
Thanks in advance.
C.
Edit: By the way, in my old monitor (iiyama Vision Master 17) I played smoothly at 100fps (capped).

Ok, now this is a weird phenomenon:
69-70 FPS
Red place
121-124 FPS
Blue place
Same as above, 69-70 FPS
And in some other walls it gives me 88, 117 or some other unstable and weird ammounts. Without the earlier experiences with another monitor I would say is hardware... but I'm completely lost. No freaking idea.

I can't explain why You have such low frame rates, but I can explain the differences between "the blue and the red" place (or rather, I can show the differences):
start a map (rok for example),
when the map is loaded write gl_ext_multitexture 0 and gl_showtris 1 in Your console,
restart video (vid_restart);
The results should be self explanatory enough.

Caracol, im not a wizzkid, but if you have a flatscreen it's normal :-) i have 60 and that's my highest with my monitor. I hope you succeed pumping up the FPS :-)

FPS has nothing to do with your screen.. Its all about settings. What gfx card u got?

Check or tell us in this order: CPU, GPU, Memory, Drivers, Q2-Client, Q2-Settings.

* I would like to repeat that the SAME combination worked perfectly at 100FPS with my old monitor (iiyama Vision Master 17). That's the reason of the thread' name. And FPS are related with the screen.
And it is a flatscreen, but still a CRT.
Thanks in advance... again.

in which way?

In the way that if I'm having the Vsync on, then it will limit my FPS to the refresh rate of my monitor. Of course, if I turn it off I can get over the refresh rate.
The thing is, that my refresh rate is 140Hz and with the Vsync off I'm getting a capped 70 FPS. That's what's weird.
I think it must be _something_ that keeps my FPS "stable" at a number. Being that number 70 (to avoid a constant 70-90~ FPS change... or maybe it is like that but Aprq2 doesn't show it like that in the cl_fps).

change gl_swapinterval to 0, should do the trick i hope :)

Of course it does. But the thing is that it SHOULD work at 140 FPS without turning the Vsync OFF... monitor at 140Hz, cl_maxfps at 120 and it stays in 70.
Anyways, I'm having problems with my strafes and stuff... so I made some toggle aliases that work pretty well... still the whole thing is a mistery.

Hi there little biatch
I don't fully remember how this worked, but there is something fishy about fps that drops to half the value of your screens Hz.. I shouldn't write more as I'm not updated about it right now..
But here's a link
http://www.teamradeon.com/articles/guid ... _guide.asp
it's offline atm, but the article is VERY informative regarding this subject.

old thread but still... I don't know if this is a TFT or not, but if it is, it doesn't matter what refresh rates you're trying to run it at... the DVI specification is 60hz and that's that... the highest you can currently go is 75hz if I remember correctly... you get to set the refreshrate higher in the driver settings sometimes... but this still wont affect the actual refresh rates.... so if you want vsync on a TFT, be prepared to play with 75 (or even 60 fps) I personally turned my vsync off after buying my TFT, since I couldn't play with the low fps.

Well, I have the exact same monitor, 98PDF
Samtron 98PDF
http://www.samtron.com/product/98PDF_fea.html
Is a copy of, and the specs is exactly the same as:
Samsungs 997DF
http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc ... =LE19ISBBQ
This is due to Samtron beeing Samsung's "budget brand" or something like that
In fact, you can use the Samsung drivers for your Samtron monitor.
Btw. Maximum for 800x600 is 146Hz, not 140Hz B>>
