The crytek guys sure are coding gurus... and artist gurus as well... what kind of computer would be able to run that at decent FPS? My guess is a very expensive one :D

well actually DX is much more coderfriendly... if you only talk about GFX, then they are pretty much equal (although OpenGL has classically been a tad faster) but DX contains sound and contols etc too. The problem with DX (as with everything else that MS creates) is that it's not crossplatform. If you code in OpenGL, you can compile that code on any platform, while DX only works on windows. :( *linux users everywhere shed a small tear*

Yes i meant gfx-wise.

crossplatform doesnt matter that much anymore i believe, because haui told me you can have "dx" on linux too ;)

uh, ah.. uff..

No, there's no native DirectX for Linux. There's just a similar layer that are being used for native Linux games called DGA (done over the X-Server, which basically is the whole graphics layer).

Using DirectX doesn't make compatibilty for DGA on Linux - except you use Cedega (wineX) as translator - which is slower.

Crytek and Crytek engine rules. Far cry rules. Is this Far cry 2? Or a new game they develop? Or just a video to show the new features of crytek engine? I am excited! :) Tell me more tell me more..
