R1Q2 possibly getting events

R1CH wrote:I've been thinking about adding an event scripting system to R1Q2 to allow easier creation of binds and such. It would have generic ability to execute commands on text matches. Eg:
on text "Match started." record $mapname-$date
on text "Match ended." stop
on chat "Need ammo for " bind x say_team "Here is some ammo for the $4!"
Possibly other kinds of events could be added if need arises. Does this sound OK or would anyone see any kind of potential for cheating in there somewhere?
I hope he adds it.

R1Q2 first needs to catch up Apr and then I might consider using it.

Apr doesn't have chat triggers, only servermsg triggers

An example: on chat "Need ammo for " bind x say_team "Here is some ammo for the $4!" (not mine, R1CH's)

Yeah, I see how that would be helpful in vanilla q2, ctf, etc, but in aq2 it's pretty much useless as far as I can see... I can't think of a single time when those chat triggers could be used for something (useful)... but hey, the more features the better

Ofcourse:). And don't forget that AprQ2 isn't AQ2 only.

I was just going to say that, but it seems that you were faster. R1Q2 is for the main Quake2 game, but also used for it's mods, like Aq2.
Same with Apr, it can be used for main Quake2, or also maybe other mods as well. Not only aq2. I also can come up with lots of good uses for the triggers. Here is some I've been thinking about;
§ Someone reports that he is alive. If you are known with your clan, you add their report-in msg, and trigger your own if they are using it. Here you would spare atleast one button for something else.
§ You could have echos/aliases, for what weapon you are using. If the echo tells that you are using Sniper, you can use Enemy hit messages when hitting all the other body parts than just the Kevlar vest. This is so you could spare atleast one button for something else.
§ You could just make your own echos, messages, to trigger whatever you like. If you're dying.. you can trigger a teammate-down message automatically. Could be pretty useful.
There's more, much more, these were just something that came up on my mind right now.
If you get the feature on hand, I'm sure you will come up with lots of good-use functions.

About the echo's, I thought about making something like that. But I didn't figure out what to do with knowing what weapon you have. Thanks to you I do

. I think I will make something soon, and will post it somewhere here.
