hello everyone,
last time i played aq2 was arround 4 years ago ... yesterday i dont why i suddenly remembered the game. you know, that feeling of missing good old aq2
so i downloaded the whole package and here i am again :p

so the problems are:
- i downloaded uberPAK, but most maps i tried to play on were missing textures, i just see a red&black wall replacing the texture that is supposed to be here... isnt the pack supposed to include textures? (i found a 254 megs z_mappack file i hope it will succesfully replace uberpak but just wanted to know what the problem was)

- the second problem is a question... if i want to play on lan, do i need a server program (which do you recommend if yes) , or i can be the server direclty without any program (i have quake2 demo installed with nocheat)

thanx,
philip

yes, uberpak includes some textures, but not all.
you can find maps here
http://static.hugi.is/games/quake2/aq/maps/
http://www.lahtela.com/aq2suomi/maps/
http://arj.localhost.nl/quake2/maps/
http://www.clan-ex.net/files/quake2/

about playing it with lan... no... you dont need any program.
just run action
write map ******
and join with the other computer writeing in console
join ******** <----- replace this with first computer's ip

have fun, and wellcome back
:D

Start using some different client before you get used to that crap. I suggest Aprq2 (aq2w's links section), though some say/think R1Q2 is even better.

If you want to make a little server for lan playing you should also get TNG, since it has many improvements, fixed bugs and commands like lens.. URL should be under links section aswell.

lol i started using APRQ2 then i tried nocheat i prefered it beacuse it was faster to run and i felt it was less bloated(just 300K). i dont need any of the features just want to play..

Then use R1Q2 or ATEQ2 Simple, fast, secure

If you download a map and in the mapdirectory you will find textures, env, sound etc. Then put those file in your action/textures, action/env directory and so on.
