well... that... on the subject :\
EDIT: sorry i didn't specify anything.
i know that is only available on a uncompiled release of q2pro, but will it be, if fully developed, on a aprq2 release?
it's only working with default q2?

Hm, are you at #aq2world in Quakenet sometimes?
yesterday I posted an IP of an MVD enabled server (q2proded) which played back a 4on4 MVD in a loop - the whole evening.
It works well
but it's yet to be considered experimental. So, no implementation of MVD for R1Q2 servers yet.

great!
but there's something i don't get well... that the MVD will be implemented on R1Q2 servers means that those demos need to be played back on a client, right?
so implementation should be done on all regular clients too (like Apr, EGL, r1q2)?

In fact, when all done, it can be played back everywhere - servers on the net as well as on your own machine at home (on the client).
The server will record mvd - you will be able to download it with your q2 client - and then you can play it back locally.
Or: server will record mvd - servers plays back for all connected q2 clients.
etc.
So - it will work everywhere.

Multi View Demo.
Or with other words a demo recorded by the server that enables you to spectate all and any players, from any POV. It would be great fun, and would also eliminate the need to ask players for demos after a match. You would just download the MVD, and switch to their view.

Is this really the case? That r1q2 can't record MVDs? quake2 has always been able to record server side demos (or mvds) the problem is that there has not been a way to play back those recordings
