So i started playing (again) after about 4 years and ive always wondered if my setup is my handicap

I use the arrow keys to move about and the up arrow is jump

Do most people use the mouse to jump? (My right mouse button is move forward)

Also my sensitivity is about 4 i think, if i have sniper and i zoom in to 2x i dont change my sensitivity, is that normal? I dont use 4x or 6x so i actually l never change my sens.

Whats the average sens?

geez, take a photo of your hands position above the keyboard, that should be funny to see? :)
try and download some cfg's from the main aq2world site, or at least some of the most popular ones..
as for the sensitivity it always depends on how your system is configured... i've varied from 5 to .5 due to mouse changes..
welcome back!

Ah another wierdo like me! :D

Code: Select all

bind mouse2 +forward //Move forward button
bind mouse1 +back //Move backwards button
bind a +moveleft //Strafe left button
bind d +moveright //Strafe right button
bind ctrl +movedown //Crouch button
bind w +moveup //Jump button
bind s +attack //Shoot button
I used to do the exact same with the arrowkeys instead of wasd, i dont know why i play like this but it makes jumping and moving around maps quickly seem easier.

AQ2 is the only game I use the arrow buttons to move with, and it's one of the reasons I will only buy keyboards with a normal 'insert/home/del/end' setup. If "arrow up" is to jump, what the hell do you use to run forwards?

I know someone who could rape me at UT using one hand. He had walk forward on his mouse and stuff :(

Code: Select all

bind UPARROW "+forward"
bind DOWNARROW "+back"
bind LEFTARROW "+left"
bind RIGHTARROW "+right"
bind DEL "+moveleft"
bind PGDN "+moveright"
bind MOUSE1 "+attack"
bind MOUSE2 "+moveup"
bind MOUSE4 "+movedown"
mine is a kinda spastic way to play but... ive started that with q1 and duke3d so cant play action in other ways.
anyway i play newer games with wasd
:D

I think move forward on right mouse button is a disadvantage. How can you aim properly when moving around, jumping and stuff? Rather have those quick click things on mouse buttons, should work better :D

And yes, moveup on right mouse button works like a charm.

bind e "+forward"
bind d "+back"
bind s "+moveleft"
bind f "+moveright"
bind MOUSE1 "+attack"
bind MOUSE2 "+moveup"
bind SPACE "+movedown"

Oh, and I play with invert mouse. AQ2 is probably the only game in which I have invert mouse activated. Tried playing without it but that screwed up everything heh -_-

i use the same pattern as above but "t" is move forward "x" is crouch and space is jump

just found it better to have more keys nearby.

and i use mouse2 as reload...inverted mouse as well

i basically want all my fingers to have some function while i play.
