I got a intel core 2 duo, 2 gig ddr2 and that crappy intel gma x3100 graphics card but in aq i get like 70 fps and even less when i shoot or anyone shoot, i've turned off everything like shadows and stuff but still it won't do any better. Seems frikkin weird since aq is so old and i played it with pentium 1 200 mhz and shit when it was new so i know it aint the comp thats bad ^^
Anyone got an idea?

Try gl_dynamic "0", basically gl_dynamic is set to 1 or 2, which makes screen "flash" while someone is shooting, soo i hope that will help u.

Have you tried the game in window mode?
Are you running Vista?
Latest video/sound/other drivers?
VSync Turned off?
Tried different q2 clients - r1q2 / aprq2
Do you have anticheat installed?

I got a problem with my laptop to.
I manage to play with 110 fps, but when I start to shoot it drops down to
20/30. I guess my problem would be that I've got Vista (may it burn)
on my laptop.
System properties:
CPU: Intel Celeron 1.65GHz
RAM: 1024mb
Graphic card: Intel 945Gm/gu 256mb
OS: Vista
EDIT:
gl_dynamic 0 did the job.

You have sucky laptops. Mine is not even close as good as yours, and I get 800-2000fps.
Put Vertical synch off in your graphic card settings, not anything like controlled by application, NEVER. Just 'off'. Also put the following settings on '0' in aq2.
gl_swapinterval
gl_ext_swapinterval
It's the settings for setting vsynch off also in the game, they can override the windows settings.
Might help, might not.
