Linux AQ2 crash [signal 11]

I'm quite the newbie on nix systems and I'm trying to get the old action game rolling on my ubuntu 9.04 netbook remix OS (eeePC).
So far I've been having major troubles getting all the needed files to build AprQ2 but I've finally succeeded.
I launch using ./aq2, it all goes well, I game action and it rolls sweetly until I map urban when it crashes saying
(same error when game baseq2 writing map base1)
using gl_driver /usr/lib/libGL.so, AprQ2 and Quake2 Demo with quake2-3.20-i386-unknown-linux2.0.tar.gz linux files.
Resolution is default gl_mode 3 (640x480) and all files are default (just added gl_driver to autoexec.cfg).
I find it odd that there's an gamei386.so in quake2/baseq2/ (normal) and in quake2/ (what is it doing there?) but not inside quake2/action/ (?)
I can give you more information if needed, anyone's got any sweet ideas on how to solve this?
