[R1Q2 Server] #Issues

Hey guys,
The Australian AQ2 scene has been dead for a while, but we're only now starting to pick up again. Our main server provided by OGN has been down for months. We now have someone hosting a server which is fairly stable and not too shabby. Now he's asked for my help but I can only help so much.
One problem he is having is he is running the R1Q2 client and is getting Q2 sounds instead of AQ2 sounds. These work fine in APRQuake. Is this a common/known issue? [Tried googling it to no avail]
The second problem, well more of a question, he wants to know if you can load different server configs for certain maps? [Don't think this is possible, or don't know why it's needed]
