There was this site somewhere

where were tips to tweak your connection at quake2..

But anyways.. :oh:

Basicly it was like this:

Join some server and put your netgraph on...

Then put some values of rate and cl_maxfps

and then decrease and increase them so that

ur netgraph is totally (or atleast almost) flat. :)

That might not be 100% correct but i think it might give u some direction.. :shocker:

If i dont remember totally wrong

When i had Pentium 2 350mhz, 128mb RAM (or 64 :( ) and voodoo2

I used rate 6000 and i quess cl_maxfps was 85

What that exactly does?

well correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't rate the amount of bytes sent to the server or something? which means 6000 is a modem rate(in the upper limits :P) wouldn't it be better with a higher rate even if your computer is pretty old?

also, how many fps do you have when you type "timerefresh" ?

Those are all commands when playing with software :) perhaps he doesn't want that...

aren't there like 1000 mipscale etc. etc. commands with GL as well, I've seen pics of ppl's quake which looks kind of like QW with lots of picmips and mipcaps etc... don't remember the commands...

Down down the texture quality!

I lost my config that I had when I was on a P2 300/modem. Sorry.
