Something I've noticed while playing with my ATI9800XT..



I think it's possibly the drivers that's causing this, but unsure. When playing AQ2, if an MSN window pops up notifying me that someone has just logged on, the screen starts to flicker fairly badly... makes it stupidly hard to play.. (especially if you're sensitive to things like flickering screens like me.)



That's not the part which worries me though. When the screen flickers, it reveals parts of the map (i.e. flashes through some walls and reveals models at the other side) hence acting like a "wall hack." Naturally I'd imagine this is fairly undetectable.. and could be exploited. I'll get some screenies up of what happens.. but I dont actually have a converter for tga files atm. Closing down MSN is the simple solution, but I'm not too sure if there's drivers out which stop this from happening.. might be worth submitting the problem to ATI.. as Hercules have stopped doing gfx oriented things now I believe.

i doubt ppl can use this as an advantage. You have to examine what happens, take the drivers apart etc. Too much work.



I still like the old asus drivers with the build-in wallhack

This problem has been around some time already. In AQ2Suomi forums some guys have explained that they have the same 'problem'. Instant wh or something

It can't be used for shit on servers running NCServer anyways..

That msn thing... Well actually my screen's stopped flashing when I switched to axion quake 2 (wtf?:>). But the "wh" is still there, whenever msn pops up I can see through the walls at the locations where corpses and players are. When Im taking a screenshot it shows everything normal, heh.



BTW IM TURNING MSN OFF WHEN PLAYING CW'S!

it's a driver problem, practically undetectable.. I cant think of a way to find it.



and yes, MSN goes off when AQ goes up..

I'm talking about the fact that servers running NCserver (Boomtown, DA, Jolt are the ones I can remember off the top of my head) don't send info about players/items that you're not suppposed to be able to see, so even though you can see through the walls, the players on the other side of the wall, won't be showing..

I'll get screenies mate, but those servers you just mentioned are the ones that I would normally play on.

Stim with nocheat u can use screenshotjpeg command and it makes .jpg screenie

Funny u mention it, cause I know some people who have this 'problem' as well. And it goes for Boomtown (don't know about DA and Jolt) as well as any other server.

Ye, I am from Slovenia and I play on DA mostly with ping ~50 and it sux alot becasue of NCServer ... I talked to Bryce about this and he said

[Bryce]: maybe you can convince the admin to disable it

Well , I tried to talk with DA|Pain and he never answerd me

What about NCserver to fix this problem?

We have removed NCserver for more than a week already, now happy?
