(Quick) Question

Okies I have recently started playing with gl_picmip 18.8, and I don't want to have the discussion whether or not that's cheating here. Enough has been said on that issue already, and unless they (read: serveradmins) put a constraint on it, I intend to use it. It's not the tactical advantage - it is also much softer for my eyes. Anyway, question is, I play with gl_cellshading 1, since it looks cool. Is there a way for objects in the map itself to have cellshading as well? Things like buildings, rocks and, of course, trees. I mean, sometime it's hard to distinguish where one building stops and the other begins, especially with gl_colorlightmaps 0.

so you want to play a texture-less, black and white game with distinct edges between all objects?

Here you go.

edit: I just tried coloredlightmaps 0 out, and I must say that it's quite dumb. There is a reason why urban2 is dark. Why is it that aq2players struggle to make the game look worse?

I don't feel like having this discussion right here jazzie, but I disagree. I play on a fucked up pc on my fucked up isdn. It's not that I can't play without these settings, but this way, I have the feeling things actually can smooth - you've read my earlier posts, I'm in really bad shape (aq2 wise), and need every edge I can get. It's not that I MUST win, I've grown beyond that stage ages ago - however, continually losing from everyone (well, not everyone) is no fun. This enables me to have fun, because I can actually hit something. Well, if this setting gets 'a ban', I will change it, but now, the game already looks shit, making it look worse so I can actually enjoy it suits me just fine. ....

Concerning your problem: Currently, there is no command to enable something like celshading for walls. :hop:

I quite like the idea :). Btw, using picmip 10 is ok in my opinion.

Slackerprevention: I use gl_picmip 1.

Thanks, this is helpful, even though I expected as much.

you could fake celshading on the walls etc by changing the textures :)

Yeah, you're right, but that would be alot of work, wouldn't it? And is that even allowed?

Depends on all the funny guys, that represent this scene, whether they (the majority) like it or not.

Imho, just do it. Perhaps I want these textures too, after you have done them :) - hehe.

Considering all buildings are made up of several textures next to each other it would probably look like some obscure 3d-chess.
