about the chat function, as far as I know, it works (one way) with standard quake2, but is turned of in nocheat because it can be used as a cheat, spectators telling where people are etc, don't really know :P

Funny you should say that hawk :)

MI uses ventrilo which works in the same way. But hey, you use limchase camera when you play atleast.



I had a script in mirc where you could send messages to people in action quake. (No, not acom) But that's a loooong time ago. It was fun, but not as useful as you would think it would be.

that detects m4scripts and kick players using it, then I think using an m4script is cheating, cuz on that server

That's probably one of the most encouraging things I've seen towards an atittude of cheating. M4script is an outright cheat.



Basically the above quote gives me the idea that he's saying "It's ok to use it as long as you dont get caught".. there should be no real justification as to using a script which deliberately takes a valid feature (recoil) out of the game. If you want a more accurate automatic, use the mp5.

I also think that m4 scripts and such are cheating, but however, are they really... I mean, cheats like wallhacks/bots and stuff can't be enabled by console commands, just through extra files or executables... But scripts can be written down in the cfg file, which makes me feel like "if they implemented so u can modify it yourself, is that cheating then?"... Even though, I consider m4 scripts as cheats... but I do understand ppl that don't :)

It's an implementation which takes a valid feature out of the game to give you an advantage over other players.



Dont know about you, but that's my definition of a cheat.



Also you'll find that god mode is in fact an implementation of quake2. Just because they "implemented" it into the game doesnt mean it's not cheating. Obviously the script is to a lesser degree, but I was just using that as an example.

I can't even remember the command though.. seeing how it has been disabled server-side some years ago.. just like m4 script actually :)

The console-"wallhack" is already disabled with nocheat.



(its not a real wallhack though)



And I agree with the definition of the .txt-author with the m4 script.



As he says its only a cheat if its disabled on the server.

As long as its not disabled its not cheating.

Just to mention: I would never play with m4-script.

I just like to make scripts and enhancing my cfg. Its part of AQ2 and what makes me still play it. I change my cfg once a week.



And fraki has an old source of acom. without those laserthingys and less features overall.

According to the code in aq2 you shoudnt be able to zoom backwards :p

TNG is an enhanced aq2 :)



But what about gl_modulate? You consider that cheating?

gl_modulate can be used as a cheat. It can be used to make skins look more awesome then glowskins :o Thats cheat imo :)
