So NoCheat isn't dead after all. This is good news for some of us.So I've been working on the next NoCheat. I'm putting some pretty cool code in here that I think will stop even good reverse-engineers/crackers from emulating the NoCheat code. I've also put some other protection in against some exploits that Zaltekk told me about. I can't say when it'll be done, but if this works as well as it looks like, nocheat should be a lot more secure when it does come out.
Oh yeah. I removed the suggestion forum for a reason. There aren't going to be new features, just more security and bug fixes, so there is no need to post feature suggestions.

NoCheat status
This is what Bryce aka NiceAss (Creator of NoCheat) has to say:
I like to play games, not watch them
I'd rather have it that he used his coding skills to create a better client with more neat functions, considering nobody cares about the 'cheat protection' in Nocheat anyway.Clause wrote:Jazzie i guess you didnt read what was written before you posted? atleast the guy is trying. Can´t be worse right? so put a cork in it ^^

Next time, put this into the "Client forum" because this isn't just "general"
Anyways, I don't think NoCheat will ever be my favorite client.
And since there's no change, except something you can't notice (anti-cheat) it's quite boring to play with the "same" client for a long time.
The Q3 source will be released at the end of the year. I'm looking forward to see new clients with new features in Q3 and Q2. But if we/I stick to the client that doesn't advance with other things than anti-cheating we won't notice changes after all - whereas other clients will have a technology boost with the release of the Q3 source. Pitty.
Sometimes, people think, when an anti-cheating client arrives, cheating will have an end which keeps you hoping and hoping AND waiting. In the meanwhile the multiplayer client (in this case: NoCheat) hasn't changed at all - "forcing" ppl who want to have a better multiplayer client:
1. to change clients
2. to crack nocheat (once again)
to 1. they move on to something else, that has a better multiplayer experience. Linux users for example don't even have the possibility to use NoCheat (ridiculous - id-software always respected linux users - even with DooM3 now they will release a linux client).
to 2. cracking makes sure you can play with nocheat in leagues (easy speaking) but additionally you can put some nice features into it which you appreciated a long time. (No, I am not speaking of aimbots, ffs!)
IMHO, all this makes it kinda impossible to unite people using the same client.
My suggestion is: Get some damn nice features like .MVD support into NOCHEAT! And finally, don't code for Windows only. Keep your sourcecode portable for other plattforms.. Mac OS X? Linux? Go for it. But don't lock people out (of leagues for instance). There are less cheaters than Linux or Mac users - can't you realize this?

Yeah well, as Jazzie said nocheat should have more nice features, and we are not talking about the ridiculous "cheat protection".
Haudrauf: you are talking about .MVD demo files or whaaat?
Those the ones they use in QW?
...So only a server records a demo or something, then you can download it, and when you watch it, you can watch it from the eyes of that player who you want, or you can spec, or do whatever you want.
It seems just like you would be in the server speccing when they played the match and you can follow the game anywhere u want from.?
