cant connect to irc?

i cant connect to irc anymore :S
i get this msg all the time
[ 17:58:52 ] *** Connecting to nl.quakenet.org (6667)
[ 17:58:52 ] *** Unable to connect (Software caused connection abort)
[ 17:58:58 ] *** Connect retry #1 nl.quakenet.org (6667)
[ 17:58:58 ] *** Unable to connect (Software caused connection abort)
[ 17:59:03 ] *** Connect retry #2 nl.quakenet.org (6667)
[ 17:59:03 ] *** Unable to connect (Software caused connection abort)

Dunno what to change to make it work, if i connect with my bnc it works, but my bnc is currently down, so wanna connect with my normal client, but get this message all the time, for some days now already

What should i change?

The server is probably down. Something you might know about because your clan server keeps dropping due to shitty rcon commands..?

well, im not talking about the clanserver.
But i tried many of those servers from the quakenet site, but get the same message all the time, with any server. So thats not the problem

i get that reason for disconnect, when my windows goes to "sleep", so dunno why it does that, my brother's having the same thing, i'll ask if he got it to work. (in his case, mirc disconnected after a few minutes)

Try different ports, for example 6668, 6662

I tried to connect to irc now by another pc in the same network, which worked. Then i copied that irc to my laptop, but it didnt work.. so its a problem with my laptop, but what could it be?

you got a trojan or virus script or some open ports that shouldnt be open probably. perhaps win SP2?

i had the same problem with some virus. or irc scripting.
it also could help to reinstall tcp/ip

I think my virusscanner blocks it:

Im using McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0.0
But then, i cant change a thing in there.

Any1 knows how to unlock the user interface?
