A serious question concerning ladderjumps
hi everbody, i think i did almost every hard jump in this f*cking game, but the ladderjumps are still pissing me off
Sometimes i manage them, but simply to rare. I spoke with several good players about it, but a perfect solution to do them does not seem to exist. Can anybody explain how exactly to do a ladderjump?

Well, ladders ARE evil... abominations and incarnations of mappers...
Some ladders are actually so evil, that you just _can not_ jump from them.
How to do a ladderjump? Well, here's the deal:
Climb to near top of the ladder, then at the same time, press forward and jump.
That's all there is to it.
Some ladders though are buggy, and jumping doesn't just work from them, and some ladders are screwed up so, that you can only get a good jump from the side of the ladder (for example in urban3, up, where you can jump to the high ledge next to sky).
Yeah, and it's a matter of luck, too.
I can show ya, and everyone else too, some jumping at some point if intrested. Just poke me at Qnet.
PS.
Zavior eh... posting my jumps to the board? :p
Those are just simple strafejumps backwards.

Ladders are evil indeed!
A strange thing that annoys me is that little ladder on cloud, where you can jump from it up on the house, instead of using the next little ladder....ehh. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
Well, this little ladder was np for me before, it's a very easy jump, and very handy too if you use ssg and want a fast way to get on the roof.
But the thing is that after I disable vsync on my computer this little ladder becomes very annoying. With vsync disabled I rarely make this jump at all.
Does someone know what this funky thing is?

I've the same problem with that ladder.
When I'm at my parents playing at an old computer getting about 50 fps I never fail that jump.
On my own comp I'm very rarely able to make that jump at all.
And it's only that ladder with that problem, very annoying indeed.

Stupidity is the basic building block of the universe.
Isn't it some setting in quake2 that says you can't ladderjump on a ladder below the z-axis? I don't have a clue about that cloudladder but perhaps that's why some ladders are REALLY evil. And by the way, the most annoying ladders are those on sludge1 which cannot be climbed from the side! >:(
fell in love with the game
Ye those are fecking annoying it takes a lot of effort just to climb em straight up, I use to fall down from them from time to time. Very annoying when u have a couple of m4's behind you.Jazzie wrote:Isn't it some setting in quake2 that says you can't ladderjump on a ladder below the z-axis? I guess this is basic stuff for all old aq2 gamers and some new too
Check your cl_maxfps ..in game.. i use cl_maxfps 90 and iy works fine on my computer..i can make all jumps with that setting.using cl_maxfps 100 you get a little extra boost on height..but you loose some of the speed..(for me atleast)..So test a new value and jump around until you are satisfied.Btw with V sync on you lock the fps to youre monitor hz.
