That's another site concerning this. As this is the area in which I'm going to work in a couple of years (software engeneering) I've read some stuff about software patents, and basically it will kill Open Source and small companies, and really benefit big companies (as microsoft f.ex) that will be able to BUY their way out of competition. Software Patents are already in use in USA and from what I hear, they don't have any good experiences at all there (if you're not a big company that can afford multiple patents that is...)
GOGOGOGO WORLD!

please read before you write.... since apparently you don't know what the fuck you're talking about... as it looks atm it's much more likely that patents will be approved than the other way around, and in any case one can't just sit back thinking "oh well, I guess those big guys in Brussels will make the right decision", since there's a very good chance that they won't. Especially when there are lobbyists there promoting software patents...Sabotage wrote:Just BS if u ask me

(and in case you're wondering, mplayer is the best media player for linux...)from www.mplayerhq.hu wrote: The European parliament will now be taking the last stand against software patents in a voting for which an absolute majority is needed. Such a majority is hard to come by in a parliament with a low attendance level.
