Need some help with a computer.
Okay, here's the problem:
A friend of mine went to a LAN, and suddenly the power went of in the whole room. Like, a fuse went..
Then they fixed the fuse and everyone went back to playing.
However, my friends PC wouldn't respond to anything.
He took out the power-cable, and put it back in. But still no response..
Then we ordered a new power-supply, and tried changing them.
The power-supply has a red light on the power-button, and that's okay now (the previous one didn't light after the accident)
The green light on the mainboard is also lighting, so it seems the mainboard also gets power..
However, when I pressed the power-button on the front on the computer, my fuse went too. And I lost all power.
Then I set the fuse back again, and tried taking away all un-nessesary power-supply (like, to the cd-rom, and stuff..)
Now, when I try pressing the power-button on front of the computer, I get no response.
It still lights green in the mainboard, and the powersupply still lights red.
He has the exact same hardware as me, and his IDE-cables, mainboard-cables and power-cables are set just as mine, but nothing seems to work.
Any suggestions?
Could there be a broken cable to the front power-button? Is there any way to like, jump-start a computer? It seems as if either the mainboard is broken, or the power-button on the front is weird..
However, the powerbutton did work the first time, but that's when the fuse went out..
So? Anyone?
I'm tired of his computer, nothing but troubles..
And of course, I always get to fix it.. yay.. :p gah..

the powerbutton only makes a short circuit between these two cables. maybe u could try to connect these 2 pins with anything to test it. but i dont think that this would solve ur problem.

I'll try this... Gah, the agony..[21:26:09] [@fRitz0r]: dissmantle it all, then check the motherboard for any faults...like screwdriver marks and such....then, reassemble it
[21:26:23] [@fRitz0r]: if that dosen't work...check back with me
[21:28:24] [@fRitz0r]: as an x-computer techie...i know computers
[21:28:11] [emperphis]: hi
[21:28:17] [emperphis]: that appened to me before
[21:28:40] [emperphis]: first thing to blow up was the PSU
[21:29:39] [Pjotobozu]: :/
[21:30:00] [emperphis]: when changed, due to electrostatic problems and lack of security measures, the mobo failed as well
[21:30:12] [emperphis]: it's recoverable if u know something about electronics
[21:30:19] [Pjotobozu]: nothing :/ :p
[21:30:31] [Pjotobozu]: i know just about nothing about electronics
[21:30:48] [emperphis]: change the mobo then..
[21:31:14] [emperphis]: even receiving power doesn't mean it'll work
Seems the people have spoken, the fat lady has sung.[21:31:44] [@Moose]: Pjotobozu it's most likely the mobo
[21:31:49] [@Moose]: happened to me once
Gah.. Fuck, I don't want to order more shit, then have to put the guys computer back together, then figure out everything fucks up again..
This sucks..
The computer was just about 3 weeks old too, when it happened..
First time the power went.. retarded mainboard..

Check the manual.. there should be a page with a plan of some pins (fan, led, hdd, etc). Use something that conducts electricity (screwdriver etc) and place it against the pins. Your pc should start now.Could there be a broken cable to the front power-button? Is there any way to like, jump-start a computer? There's a chopper coming in 3 days and there's a katana on top of the cafe and that's all you need to know
You think so?
I'm scared as hell I'm gonne get shocked and lose a hand.. :p
I HATE electricity..
Another friend of mine had somewhat of the same problem, and used a AED (you know, in ER, when they yell CLEAR! then gives a flatlines pasient a shock through his entire hearth-mussles..) to give his computer a shock.. and it worked.. freakin freaky..
I'm gonna make him fix this one too :p I'm tired of fixing computers..

Yeah, guess so..
we tried sending the powersupply back, but we had to do so much shit..
and we ordered both our computers together, in my fathers name, so we would get it cheaper as we ordered through his firm.. so we have to make him send them back and stuff.. gah..
and the supply-dudes at the shop i bought this stuff are impossible to get a hold off..
