like smoking....somebody, one day thought "im going to set fire to that plant and breathe the smoke in". his mates must have though he was bananas.

he must have smoked some dodgy shít before he found the good stuff.

infact, he probably died from smoking some poisonous shít.

which means his mates, who have seen him die, probably carried on smoking random plants.
