wtf is discgolf?

A nice little activity. Seems like a growing sport and what not to like? The courses are often set in a beautiful environment and even though it might stand out as a weird and silly sport its great fun. Everyone should really give it a try this summer.

W1lco i tried the course in Helsingborg this weekend and it's great. The Tee's aren't in the best conditions, but the course is realy nice.

Got 3 discs, driver, midrange, putter. Both me and my friends played Skatås and Slottsskogen over and over the past 4-5 years, nothing last year though. Nothing has happened on the courses in Skatås (that I know of) and Slottskogen summertime is allways full of ugly parents with their ugly children (and I hate the water course one!). Might play this summer though, had both rocco and mondo from 'Ye olde [balle]' out there throwing discs

minchiano they have changed the Skatås course abit now, it's little longer holes and new tee's on some holes. You should come up to Skatås this Saturday the club that i'm (www.tresextio.nu) is selling cheap discs and learning out some techniques, at the fotball feeld hole.

And they are going to move the Slottsskogen course to a diffrent place in slottsskogen where there is less people running around. and no watter hole =) . Don't know the date yet.

Hi again, i hope some off you guys have tried some discgolf this summer, if not. there is still time!

I will write some about my frist competitions as a "Pro". Don't know if you care, but i will do it anyway.
My goal in every major event is semifinal (top 24 or 36 depends on the field)

It started with the fist of 5 SMTD (Svenska Mästerskapstouren i Discgolf/Swedish championshiptour in Discgolf)

Falköping Sweden 27-28 May
It started out with dubbels on friday when you and a mate throws 2 disc on every hole and you take the Best shot of you to.
And i played Jesper Lundmark, Ranked 1 in sweden and 8 in the world.
And we played with a other pair Markus Källström, ranked 2 in sweden and 9 in the world, and he played with Daniel Strandberg, ranked 8 in sweden and 57 in the world.
I was so nervous and i started on hole one, where everyone who was waiting for there groupp to go around 30 guys. i was so nervous i'm glad that i even got the disc out of my hand. but the throw wasen't so good but i got half way =).

we finnished 5th of 30.

Singles: i played okey not so much better but it got me to the semifinals (top 24 of 74) where i played realy good. I even got a hole in one on a hole.

I finnished 9 of 74
I was realy satisfied with that.

Stockholm Discgolf Open 10-11 june SMTD 2 and Eurotour
A realy nice course with some realy good holes. one of the best courses in sweden. (http://www.discgolfpark.com/) try it if you are in stockholm.
To bad if played realy bad this weekend. i mist the semifinals with some throws.

I finnished 47 of 102.

Icelandaair Open, Reykjavik 23-25 june Eurotour
This was abit of a vacation, my girlfriend and a discgolf friend and his girl got up there 4 days before the competition to see Iceland. Damn it realy nice there. If you get the chanse go!
Hmm the competition, well lets just say it was like minidiscgolf. not so long holes. and this didin't suit me.

I finnished 9 of 15

Skellefteå Open, Skellefteå, 15-16 July SMTD 3 and Eurotour
My home, i used to live here. but i didin't play discgolf when i lived there.
This is swedens best course! (www.sdg.nu)
Played bad in the first round. A little bit better the secound round, and the third round was okey. I just made the semifinal as the last guy(32th).
So i played realy risky and that played off.

I finnished 26 of 85.

Helsingborg Open, Helsingborg 29-30 July SMTD 4
I feelt better this time i had practied alot. and it paid off.
Started okey. and got better and better trow the weekend.
I shot a great third round witch pushed me up to 15.
In the semifinals i played okey.

I finnished 10 of 59

The next event is European Open, Tampere Finland 25-27 August PDGA Major.
This event you need to qualify to, You need to be top 10 in a eurotour. i made it in iceland. The best players in the world will be here. So if you want to see some great discgolf, go there and watch. I will be there. Rounding off the field i guess =) .

Right now i'm ranked 28th in sweden. aiming for top 20.
and on 6th place in SMTD ( one to go so i guess i will fall back some, the 4 best results count. and some players only have 3 results.) But if i get top 10 i'm realy happy.

I should try this sport, though I'd never compete in it. One little mistake can cost you too much

Damn i forgot to write the end to this, a little cliffhanger(if someone cares =) )

European Open, Tampere Finland 25-27 August PDGA Major.
This is the first realy big competition. The best european players, few top players from USA. This was a realy professionaly ran competition.
It went quite well, i did some mistaks here and there but in the end i played good.
And i got to see McCree and titan. (Damn Judas Reloadi =) )

This was just realy bad playing by me. I did my worst round in my life here.

I finnished 28 of 50

Acando Open 30/9 Local
This was at my homecouse in Gothenburg.
A fun day, laydback, and i played okey.
Got to the finnals.

I finnished 6 of 41

I'm ranked 16 in sweden.
And ended 9 in SMTD [Swedish Championship Tour]

A great year of playing.

Planing so far for 2007:

April 28-29 - Göteborg Open, Gothenburg - SMTD
May 12-13 - Falköping Open, Falköping - SMTD
June 2-3 - Malmö Open, Malmö - SMTD

July 6-8 - Skellefteå Open, Skellefteå - EuroTour and SMTD
July 12-15 - European Championship, Ronchinne. EM
August 11-12 - Stockholm Discgolf Open, Stockholm. EuroTour. SMTD
August 23-26 - European Open, Tampere Finland.
