No more movie-section? Anyway, I have started going through the demos sent over the last few years. I have to say thanks to the non-finnish players who submitted demos in. I've received a lot of good fraggings from you!
I'm guessing the video might come out in the next spring, so you still have six months to bring me even more great material. So if you know somebody who might have some great fraggings on demo, push them to send the demos to me!
In this topic I'll also give you some help for how to go through your demos with less trouble.
- I made a config for viewing demos. So if you're watching demos, then write exec dm2.cfg before that. The config basically just makes the demo go faster when you want (can even pause). Number keys define how fast the demo will play. Fastest is 0, which is when one second is 2 minutes in the demo. I'm not entirely sure how it works on some clients but atleast the newest AprQ client allows the fastest playback. You may go through the demo on 2x speed or just skip always to the beginning of next round when you die. Config can be found from here: http://tols17.oulu.fi/~mviitala/dm2.cfg
- Best way to mark the spot on the demo is to use the playtime of the game (causes least confusion and is quick to use fast playback). cl_maptime "1" will show this playtime, so you may use that when checking your demos.
- If you want to make it easier to find the right spots from the demos, you can add these lines into your autoexec.cfg:
alias line "echo ------------------------"
bind <button> "line;line;line;line;line;line;line;line"
So if something great happens during gameplay, just hit the button and it will spam those lines into the console. When you later check the demo, you can just put the console down and fast forward until you see those lines in the console and mark the playtime up somewhere. Echo messages are easy to remove from demos so nothing to worry about those.
- Lastly I still have to mention the Demoplay program. It allows you to open .dm2-files by just double clicking on them and makes it really easy to open and close demos. Especially if you're watching them in windowed mode. Can be found from here: http://www.clan-eat.co.uk/files/Demoplay%202.4.zip
So that's about all for now. Send me more demos! Upload page is still http://etana.kapsi.fi/demo/index.php . Remember you can also send CTF-demos. And remember to mark your real game nick, so I don't have to guess who is ':)))))' or 'lol'.
PS. Action Unlimited is a frag highlight video series. Just to have something to remember AQ2 from when you're 50 years old and wondering what did you waste those countless hours and days of your youth.

glad to see you are back on making movies for action.... Im going to post this on the chilean comunity forum.
I'm also thinking in making a movie in the not-so-distant future.
au1-2 are pretty cool movies, au2 is my favorite aq2 movie, and probably the best one in aq2, so Im pretty sure this one is going to rise the bar again..
ps: still missing the movie forum
ps2: I think the best way to mark a demo is just say the number of the frag, so when you see it in keygrip just fastforward to the number on the top right corner.
anyway, gl with the movie

Yes in keygrip it's easy because the demo can be rewinded, but if just watching demo on regular quake then it's easy to miss the frag or you might just end up waiting minutes for the next frag (if you stop fast forward in the frag before). I've had many of those and with many many demos it sums up to lots and lots of wasted time.PanConLonga wrote: ps2: I think the best way to mark a demo is just say the number of the frag, so when you see it in keygrip just fastforward to the number on the top right corner.
About rising the bar. I'm making this one with patience. Both AU1 and AU2 were videos that I edited together in 1-2 weeks of 24/7 (almost ) editing so I made a lot of hasty decisions in those. Although it had some benefits too. And finally I have a computer that is powerful enough to make thing a lot easier.
PS. Thanks for relaying my message to the Chileans, I've gotten some good shots from around there too.
