Hmmmm, it seems that Vegas is becoming de facto standard as a movie makers application. Maybe some special tips from the others here?

I'm a newbie in video editing, so my only tip, as a matter of course, is to clearly organise the footage from the beginning on.

Give all the demos unique names (i use player_clan_map_01), store all the captured avis in different thematic folders (spraying, sniping, alternative...) and use Vegas media bins (clips, recams, sound, text, animations...). But you already know, i think.

I split my vid in several parts depending on their music soundtrack, as my Vegas starts 2 lag when feeded with tons of uncompressed avis. I throw the whole footage compatible to this special part on the timeline and begin 2 move it around, but not deleting the clips i think i dont need atm - just moving them far away on the timeline - so i dont forget wich clips (compatible with the actual part) I've already used and wich not. Its really helpful when u have hundreds of different clips.

The other tip is to keep your config always open when capturing, where u can set the special gl_modulate value for each map - to maintain a consistent brightness of your vid and set hand / crosshair / timescale depending on recammed or first perspective demos.

Dimmo wrote:meistor what do you mean with time warp?
-> time warp == non linear timescale, really nice feature, u see sometimes in Hollywood productions
-> in Vegas or so u r able just 2 in / decrease the speed of the whole clip, but not 2 say: at this keyframe slow linearly down, from the next speed exponentually up and so on...
Meister, right-click a movie, select remove/insert velocity envelope and leftclick. There you go.
Indeed, it's not time warp, it's standard bullshit in / decreasing the speed of the whole clip :(.

Ofcourse always when i get a good demo which i could use for demo-making i rename it so i can use it later on, so if i in future get myself doing another video there will be loads of stuff to use. And one good trick is while putting the clips, is to pull the last clip a little on the next clip, so the scene fades into next one, if you dont do that there comes a black screen for a moment and it isnt so cool IMO, hope someone can understand my english :D

Yes, its also a problem, snapping works well only whith close zoom in. Also i would like things on the higher / lower track to snap to the objects on the below / upper track. Isn't it somehow possible?

Velocity Envelope in Vegas isn't bullshit, it's even worse. It seems that it's even unable to interpolate the needed images in slow mo and to properly drop out the unneeded images in fast mo. Or are there some hidden preferences?

Export your demos to 90 fps avis if you want use slowmo. Remember to turn resampling off from every clip properities in vegas. Also remember not to blame the program for your lack of experience.
