Any of you played this old Quake2 modification?
When quake2 came out I played it.. well, alot.
Then one day at my friends place we noticed that his brother was
having a lan party with his friends so we went to see what they were playing, that is when I got introduced to Action Quake2 and Gloom.
Gloom, in my opinion, is truly one of the best available lan games
and it is very enjoyable as online game too.
About Gloom
Gloom is a Quake II modification that blends fast paced action and strategy to create a unique gameplay expierience that will take many years to master. Featuring 16 classes, each with their own unique abilities and tactics, over 300 custom-made Gloom maps and rock solid servers, it's no wonder Gloom is one of the most popular Quake II mods still played today. - http://www.planetgloom.com
On gloom there are 2 teams/sides, humans and aliens.
Both sides have many 'characters' to play with.
You're able to buy better characters with frags which you get from eliminating the enemys.
Both sides have their engineer/breeder unit that are used to build a base which consists of cannons and spawns and many others,
and the objective is to destroy the opposite spawns.
Believe me, it's very cool to hang on some dark halls roof as a spider and wait for some human grunts to come around and then drop on them.

Gloom today
The reputation of gloom has faded but there are still many active players
but only 10 active gloom servers. At best gaming time there are maybe
2-3 servers with nice amount of players.
