fps locked at 60

Post by Den »

Man i'm stuck :( my aq2 is doing weird.

My fps are locked at 60 no matter what i do. I used driver cleaner, no go, downloaded latest nvidia driver, no go, downloaded modified guru3d drivers, no go, used coolbits to override refresh rates, no go, tried refreshlook, no go, tried other refreshrate lock tools, no go...

When i start apr the console says:
-------- [Loading Renderer] --------
ref_gl version: GL 0.01
Initializing OpenGL display
...setting mode 4: 800 600 FS
...attempting fullscreen
...using display frequency 75
...using desktop display depth of 32
...calling CDS: ok
GL PFD: Color(32bits) Depth(24bits)
Stencil(8bits)
... Using stencil buffer
GL_VENDOR: NVIDIA Corporation
GL_RENDERER: GeForce 6800
GT/AGP/SSE/3DNOW!
GL_VERSION: 2.0.1
...allowing CDS
...enabling
GL_EXT_compiled_vertex_array
...enabling WGL_EXT_swap_control
...using GL_EXT_point_parameters
...GL_EXT_shared_texture_palette not found
...using GL_ARB_multitexture
...GL_SGIS_multitexture not found
...using GL_NV_texture_rectangle
...ignoring GL_SGIS_generate_mipmap
...ignoring GL_ARB_texture_compression

...enabling
GL_EXT_texture_filter_anisotropic
Maximum Anisotropy: 16
Maximum Texture Size: 4096x4096
------------------------------------
To me this looks okay?
...using display frequency 75
75hz = 75fps

So i dont know why its locking me at 60fps. Last thing i'll be trying is to download new omega drivers and hopefully that will work or else i'll have to do a windows reinstall. HELP!!!

And no i wont turn off vsync because tearing sucks.

There's a chopper coming in 3 days and there's a katana on top of the cafe and that's all you need to know

I'm not an expert at this, but this helped me:

gl_finish "1"
gl_swapinterval "0"

I don't know if this is vsync or anything, but as I said, this is what helped me.

i was under the impression that vsync means vertical sync, meaninig that with it turned on, the whatever tries to sync the game or whatever to the vertical refresh rate of your monitor, so maybe you could try buying some hardcore monitor with higher vertical refresh? :P
inter-net is good, that means inter-great should be even better

As you can see on the screenshot below. Apr says its 60fps but fraps says its 75fps. I also tried r1q2 but same problem and i tried it without using any config.

i installed that aq2install thing and same problem there and for some reason my quake2 'feels' to play faster than normal? The weapon 'idle' animation is going fast too.

I tried another thing: changed refreshrate with that override tool to 85 and to 56 but my q2 still displays: "...using display frequency 75"
